Janny de Moor receives the Wina Born Award 2004

In order to promote the production of original contributions to the gastronomical literature in the Netherlands, the Dutch organisation for hotels, restaurants, bars and cafés annually offers a prize for the best cookery book on the Dutch market. The award has been named after a famous Dutch culinary writer, the late Wina Born.

In 2004 Janny de Moor won the award with her book Wijn in de keuken. The President of the Horeca Branch Institute, Ben Rijgersberg, lauded this work as representative of Janny's whole oeuvre which according to the jury is characterised by an in-depth knowledge of her subjects, clarity of presentation, and the ability to put cookery in a broad cultural and historical context.

The award consists of a glass challenge trophee inscribed with the names of all winners in the past and a research grant. It was presented during a lavish dinner prepared by a brigade of master chefs assisted by young hotel school students in Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin, Noordwijk. A special address testifies to the event,
